Funded by the European Commission and the EUIPO, the “Ideas Powered of Business” grant program will make a reimbursement up to 75% of the official trademark and trade design fees from January 23, 2023 to December 8, 2023.
Do you have an idea, or a brand name, but don’t know how to proceed? Don’t know what type of intellectual property (trademarks, designs, patents) you should consider? At Letslaw we advise you throughout the whole process.
The “Ideas Powered for Business” grant program, financed by the European Commission and the EUIPO, is a fund aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the European Union (EU) with the objective of protecting their industrial property (IP) rights. It aims to reimburse up to 75% of the official trademark and trade design fees to European SMEs wishing to protect their IP rights at national or European level.
Here you have all the information: EUIPO – SME Fund Grants
It is important to note that the funds available are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. This fund has EUR 27.1 million; EUR 5 million for vouchers 1 and 2 (IP Scan, trademarks, designs and models), EUR 2 million for voucher 3 (patents) and EUR 100,000 for voucher 4 (Community plant varieties). It is therefore advisable to apply as early as possible to ensure participation in the program. It will run from January 23, 2023 to December 8, 2023.
If you intend to register a trademark, we recommend that you complete the EUIPO form which you will find in the link above in order to have the application for reimbursement approved as soon as possible.
In these new times where the digital era is advancing, it is essential to protect industrial property, in this way we have legal protection against plagiarism or the use without permission of ideas, products or services unique to your company.
The project also provides for the reimbursement of 75% of the IP pre-diagnosis costs (IP Scan). The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) is included in the list of national offices that have adhered to this project.
How can I apply?
This is a simple process and will not take you long, but you must make sure that you have all the documents in order, legible… The application can be submitted by the holder, an employee or an authorized external representative acting on his behalf.
We must have:
- Your company’s bank statement
- The tax identification number
- Affidavit signed by the owner or employee of the SME.
The grant is awarded to the SME and therefore the reimbursement will always be transferred to the SME’s bank account.
We may extend the expiration date but this can only be done during the last month of the initial two-month validity period.
You must ensure that your SME is valid for this process and that it meets the official EU definition of an SME.
